Wedding arches are one unique feature that sets apart a wedding from other types of events. One question we get asked often is do we (the florist) provide the wedding arch?

On average, florists do provide wedding arches to their clients as a rental. It is always a good idea to ask your wedding florist if they offer this rental service and if they have any photo examples of the arches that they provide. The price of the rental will usually be a fixed rate. This does not include the flowers that are to be used on the arch, as that can vary widely based on various factors, including flower type, flower quantity, and foliage.

There are many options to consider when it comes to the wedding arch. Read on to gain the insight you need to make the right choice for your wedding.

Does Your Venue Provide an Arch?

The very first question you should be asking is does your wedding venue provide an arch? Most venues have specific areas where people usually have the ceremony. In that area, there will be something that either is an arch or a structure that takes the place of the arch. We find that more often than not, there is some kind of structure at the venue that is suitable to be used as an arch. If there isn’t an arch, that’s when it’s time to ask your florist. Most florists do provide an arch of some sort.

What to Ask Your Florist About the Arch.

The first arch-related questions to ask your florist is if they do have one for rent, and what kind/shape it is, and how much is it to rent for just the arch itself.

Arches come in many shapes, sizes and materials. There are many different styles ranging from the classic traditional arch shape to circles and hexagons. People are using any large type of structure for their arches, and all of them have the creative potential to look unique and align with your wedding vision.

We recommend asking your florist for images of the arch they have for rent, and for images of it in use. But, we will be honest, every wedding arch design is different. So just because the arch looks one way in the photo provided does not mean it will look like that during your wedding. This is because there are so many factors that can change it including, budget, flowers choices, greenery usage.

If your florist does not provide an arch, ask them if they have any recommendations on where you can rent one from in your area.

Build Your Own Arch.

Building your arch is another option instead of renting.

Building your wedding arch can be a fun project for the family as your wedding draws near. We have seen some great arches that were built by the father of the bride for the ceremony. There are so many cute options for this type of project that can impart sentimental value and help to make the ceremony extra special.

One of the cutest things we have witnessed is when a couple took the arch home with them and planted it at the entrance to their garden. This is such a fun way to remember the most special day of your life.

Plans for arches can be purchased online, or you can buy some prefabricated arches that just need assembly. One great place to buy an arch is Etsy.

Rent Your Arch from Another Vendor.

There typically are a few vendors in the area who have an arch for rent. If you’re already renting furniture or any other rentals, it’s good to ask the rental company if they also rent arches. Sometimes it’s more cost-effective for our couples to take this route since they are already paying the delivery fee for the other items with the rental company. They might have something that your florist does not.

What Can I Use Instead of a Wedding Arch?

One great alternative to a wedding arch is to have an altar installation on the ground. A great example of this style is what we call a half-moon floor installation, that’s framing the couple. You can have any type of greenery, foliage, or flowers to surround the back and sides of the bride and groom at the ceremony. It is very encapsulating and creates a very romantic alternative to the wedding arch. Another option is to have two floor arrangements, one on each side of the bride and groom. You can use pedestals if you want them up higher. You can also do a hanging installation (if there’s something to hang from) above the altar area.

How Much Does a Wedding Arch Cost?

On average, traditional wedding arches cost $150-$250 to rent the arch itself (depending on what style of arch you’re wanting). This does not include the flowers. There is a wide range when it comes to the arch flower prices depending on if you just want a small spray of flowers in the corner of the arch, or if you want flowers all the way around the entire arch. It also of course has to do with what types of flowers you are wanting.

The more elaborate the arch, the more expensive it will become.

We ask our couples what their priorities are with the flowers from the gecko, as well as what their flower budget is, to then put together the best game plan when allocating the flowers.

We also offer dried wedding arch flowers that you can keep for years! We ship them straight to your door, already designed and easy to attach to your arch yourself. This saves our couples labor costs to install this onsite as well as delivery fees. We offer any color palette and style.
